Hello! Happy Friday to you. I hope you've had a wonderful week. I thought I'd show you my living room today, since I finally got it all decorated for Christmas. I went with kind of a natural look, using a neutral color palette of mostly ivory with touches of copper, yellow and green.
I tried to use items I already had when decorating my tree...a big copper star that I had gotten from Sundance a few years ago, which I love, love, love, along with some copper picture frame ornaments that I filled with old photos, wooden snowflakes, a few pear branches and a little of this and a little of that.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I did buy a few new things, some little wooden bird ornaments and these big wool felt snowflakes from West Elm. Oh my, it was one of those things where the minute I saw them I had to get them...I hardly ever love anything that much. I can't believe I'm so giddy over something so simple.
I decided to try making stockings this year. I'm not much for sewing, but they turned out okay. I used a natural-colored linen and then since I really like things with texture, I thought I'd add a faux fur cuff. I designed it so that it I could take it off in case I get tired of it...might as well be versatile. My son told me they make him think of a caveman, which I didn't really like hearing, so making the fur removable seems like it was a good decision on my part.
It's so hard taking photos of this room since it's so small and gets awful light. Apparently, I was so focused on my bad light that I overlooked a few details. As I was looking through my pictures, I noticed that I had this poinsettia turned in the direction where the dog took a bite out of the leaf...nice. Actually, the whole plant probably has missing chunks like this since there were little pieces all around it when it was sitting on the floor. By the way, I had to check and see if they're poisonous and it seems the answer is no.
Don't you love candy canes? They're so yummy and Christmasy. I've filled that bowl with them three times this week already. It seems like every time someone walks past it they take one...including me :)
Well, that's my living room...thus far anyway. I always feel the urge to change things, especially the mantle. I really wanted to paint up a winter-themed picture, but well, you know how it is...there never seems to be enough time to do it all.
Hope you have a great weekend. I'm doing something exciting today! I'll tell you about it next week. Here's a hint, okay? It involves something cute and cuddly. Any ideas? :)

ReplyDeleteYour tree is beautiful, and I love how the dark wood of the wardrobe really stands out so nicely.
Lately hubby has become sort of bah humbug when it comes to adding decorations, so a tree is all we have. But when I see photos like this I yearn for more than just the tree.
Beautiful as always...can't wait to hear your news, I think I know (hope I am right)

Thank you for the tour of your living room - I savoured every photo! Your tree is gorgeous against that big beautiful window!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks gorgeous. Love your photos.
ReplyDeleteDanielle
The natural look is my favorite. Your living room is comforting and peaceful...just what I love for christmas. I have never had poinsettas because I've always been told they are poisonous. I believe it is the seed part in the middle of the flower that is poisonous. I guess you will know if your puppy gets sick. Or I would call the vet to ask...just to be safe.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always! I love the simplicity of your home.
ReplyDeleteHow festive! Your photos are beautiful! That fluffy throw with the ball fringe looks wonderful too. Looks like you're in full swing!
ReplyDeleteSigh...it's perfection. Looks like a lovely place to relax. Your bokeh is great tool.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful and yummy Christmas photo shoot! I adore everything! Especially that bokeh ; )
ReplyDeleteFor so many years we were told Poinsettia's were poisonous, and now we find out they are not. Whats the deal? Nothing like keeping it real with a leaf half eaten by the dog! LOL!
oh wow what a beautiful space, love all the photos!
ReplyDeleteTricia your room and dekoration looks just beutiful,so cozy and warm...kiss Nely!
ReplyDeleteThat´s beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEverything is absolutely gorgeous. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, I would love to be sitting in that chair, with a good book in hand, looking at that gorgeous tree!

ReplyDeleteI just love those white Christmas stockings.
Tricia, your living room is so calming and beautiful! I agree that your photos are so beautiful and the bokeh effect almost magical. I adore that black cabinet/armoire and every time I see it I wish I had painted the one in our family room black. Maybe I will have to find another good deal to paint and put the blue one in my hobby room/studio.
ReplyDeleteYour tree and whole room is stunning. Love the whites and added copper.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, all of it! I really LOL with the "caveman" comment. It is still making me chuckle as I type this.

Your living room is amazing. Love those white poinsettias. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos - like a memory album. Just beautiful and your living room is perfect - right down to the sweet dog-treats poinsettia leaves. I loved that and I too am thankful they are not poisonous! I wanted to buy the White Poinsettia's with the glitter on the leaves, but I think they were around $13 each...So I went with the classic Red for $7 each LOL...So we decorated with white, red and gold this year....Merry Holidays to you, and again, such beautiful photos! xo
ReplyDeleteTricia your living room looks divine. I felt such a sense of peace and harmony looking at your photos.

ReplyDeleteLove you photos! Can you share with us the camera & lenses you use to create these fantastic photos. Which lens give you the beautiful blur effect in the background. I'm asking for a new camera for Christmas and would like to purchase the one the gets results like yours...many thanks,
ReplyDeleteMarilou
Your Home always looks so Serene and Inviting... your Christmas decor is Beautiful and that Tree is Magazine Spread Worthy!!! Had to laugh about the dog and the Poinsettia, glad they're not poisonous... I have G-Kids that tend to take bites out of things. I have some faux Tarts on display in my front Kitchen Vignette... the 6 year old Grand-Daughter assumed they were real... and now there are tiny teethmarks in them! *LOL*
